The train, scheduled to depart from Atocha station at 17:30, did not begin its journey until 19:59. Renfe sources indicated that the failure occurred in the railway infrastructure located at the Fuencarral workshop.
According to the train company, other trains operated by Renfe and other operators were running normally without any delays.
The previous day, Thursday, a more significant incident occurred. A power supply failure at the Cerro Negro workshop (Madrid) caused delays for high-speed trains departing from Atocha throughout the afternoon. The voltage drop affected track capacity management at the terminal.
Renfe announced on social media that the incident was resolved around 19:30, impacting Avant and long-distance trains on several routes. The breakdown necessitated the use of diesel-powered trains to move other units, leading to the delays.
