The city of Castellón hosted the official presentation of the security plan established by the National Police for the 81st edition of the Tour of Spain. This deployment will involve over 70 officers tasked with protecting all organizational facilities, including signature checks, accreditation issuance, team parking areas, the podium, and doping control.
The cycling competition is set to reach the province of Málaga on September 11, coinciding with the 19th stage, the penultimate day of the race. This stage will take place entirely within the province, covering a route from east to west, from Vélez-Málaga to the Peñas Blancas pass in Estepona.
At the finish line of each stage, within the area known as "Parque Vuelta," a National Police stand will be available. Here, officers from various units such as Citizen Security (Canine Guides, Citizen Assistance Groups, Prevention and Reaction Unit), Scientific Police, and TEDAX-NRBQ will showcase aspects of their daily work to the public.
The Police Intervention Unit (UIP) will establish a security perimeter at both the start and finish of each stage. Additionally, a security deployment will be in place for the first few hundred meters of the race and the final kilometer before the finish line.
The National Police Air Unit, in conjunction with the UIP, will also participate with drones (RPAS) and anti-drone systems at the start and finish zones. In cities hosting a stage start or finish within the National Police's territorial jurisdiction, the operation will be reinforced by additional Citizen Security units, Canine Guides, Underground Units, and TEDAX-NRBQ.
