The celebration of International Workers' Day in Málaga, chosen as the venue for the main march in Spain, turned into a veritable parade of political leaders. The second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor, as well as the general secretary of the PSOE-A and candidate for the presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, were present.
Also in attendance were the spokesperson for the Government and Minister of Inclusion and Social Security, and the federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida (IU), who is a candidate for the Por Andalucía coalition for the Junta. These figures were among the most prominent attendees.
Within the PSOE, the candidate for the presidency of the Junta de Andalucía was accompanied by several figures from Málaga, including members in prominent positions on the electoral list, the government sub-delegate, the organization secretary, and the presumed future municipal spokesperson.
Further to the left, alongside the federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida and the second vice president of the Government, other representatives of the left were seen. However, no members of Podemos were photographed with these leaders, despite being together on the lists for the Andalusian elections.
The general secretaries of CCOO and UGT supported the demonstration. As they explained previously in Madrid, the decision to hold the event in Málaga, instead of the Spanish capital as is customary, was made at the end of 2025, before the date of the Andalusian elections was known. The intention to prevent it from becoming a political rally was unsuccessful.
Both union leaders justified the relocation of the main May 1st mobilization to Málaga due to housing access problems on the Costa del Sol, a topic that unions wish to highlight on this year's day.
