Following rainfall registered on the morning of Saturday, August 15, which caused brief and low-volume discharges at various points along the Málaga coastline, the council has confirmed the return to normal conditions at three of its beaches. The beaches of Campo de Golf-San Julián, La Misericordia, and Sacaba are now flying the green flag again, permitting swimming without restrictions.
According to Emasa, the discharges were short-lived and of small volume, and the beaches were never fully closed. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, swimming was advised against in these coastal areas. The Beach Area department has been carrying out cleaning operations since the previous day.
San Andrés beach is, for the moment, the only stretch of the Málaga coast that maintains a red flag. The City Council has not provided an estimated time for the recovery of the green flag in this section, so bathers are advised to avoid the area until further notice.
It is recommended that citizens check the updated flag status in situ before heading to any of the beaches, as the water quality control situation can change throughout the day.
This normalization of conditions arrives during the peak week of the Málaga Fair 2026, a period when the Málaga coastline experiences high attendance from both residents and visitors combining beach and fair activities.
