The event, scheduled to start at 12:00 PM, will feature pieces by renowned composers such as Aaron Copland, Heitor Villa-Lobos, George Gershwin, Isaac Albéniz, and the Málaga-born Emilio Lehmberg. Admission will be free until full capacity is reached.
Under the direction of Francisco Miguel Haro Sánchez, the first part of the program will be dedicated to contemporary music. It will include the suite Copland-Portrait by Aaron Copland, which brings together emblematic themes like Appalachian Spring and Rodeo, reflecting the American composer's evocative style.
Continuing this section, attendees will enjoy the aria Bachianas brasileiras by Heitor Villa-Lobos, a work that merges Brazilian popular music with classical influences. The first part will conclude with a selection from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin, highlighting its innovative combination of jazz, musical theater, and classical music.
The second part of the concert will focus on Spanish music, featuring works by representative composers from the late 19th and 20th centuries. Pieces by Isaac Albéniz will be performed, such as En la Alhambra, Rumores de la Caleta, and Puerta de Tierra, taken from his collection Recuerdos de viaje, which evoke Spanish landscapes and atmospheres.
To conclude, a selection from La Romería de Zamarrilla by the Málaga composer Emilio Lehmberg Ruiz will be played, including the Danza de la Gitanilla and the Danza de los Romeros, which will bring lively rhythms and a deep connection to Andalusian folklore. This concert is supported by the Consejería de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico de la Junta de Andalucía, which has provided the venue at the Museo de Málaga.
