The municipality of Pozoblanco recently celebrated a weekend full of cultural activity, highlighting the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Teatro El Silo and the VIII White Night of Culture. These events filled streets, squares, and performance spaces, attracting a large number of residents and visitors.
The commemorative events for Teatro El Silo began on Friday with a central ceremony in front of the building's facade. After remarks by the mayor, Santiago Cabello, and the Councilor for Culture, Marisa Sánchez, a video mapping projection reviewed the theater's history. The day also included the participation of local theater groups such as Grupo Jara, La Trastienda Teatro, and Grupo Don Lorenzo Santacruz.
The video mapping projection, focusing on the history of Teatro El Silo and its cultural significance in the province, was one of the highlights. Subsequently, the Pozoblanco Municipal Band presented a concert at the Aurelio Teno Park Auditorium, which was completely sold out.
Mayor Santiago Cabello described the weekend as "a very special celebration for Pozoblanco," paying tribute to "one of our great cultural symbols" with the participation of "many residents." He emphasized that the theater represents "twenty years of shared culture, theater, music, dance, training, coexistence, and emotion."
The VIII White Night of Culture, held on Saturday, transformed Pozoblanco into a large open stage from 8:00 PM until the early morning. The event saw outstanding attendance, consolidating itself as one of the most crowded editions, with performances every half hour in different parts of the municipality.
Marisa Sánchez, Councilor for Culture, highlighted the high participation and the diversity of the program, which included flamenco, music, theater, dance, tradition, and visual arts. She thanked the "work, generosity, and commitment" of the participating groups and artists, stressing that "the White Night would not be possible without the people who keep local culture alive throughout the year and share it with the entire city on a night like this."
During the White Night, various entities participated, including the Peña Cultural-Flamenca “Agustín Fernández”, the Fagotería del Conservatorio “Marcos Redondo”, the Asociación AFEMVAP, the Agrupación Musical “Nuestra Señora de la Soledad”, the Coro Romero “Voces de la Sierra”, Aliara, Amigos de la Ronda y el Bolero, the chirigota “El Grifo”, Juan Vázquez Fernández, the Escuela de Cante y Guitarra de Javier Muñoz “El Tomate”, the Asociación “Amigos del Baile”, and La Trastienda Teatro.
Additionally, the Paseo Marcos Redondo hosted the installation "Reciclando con Arte" (Recycling with Art), an exhibition by local artists that added a visual and creative element to the night's cultural route.
