The Provincial Council of Málaga has officially announced the II Edition of the Provincial Academic Excellence Awards. This initiative aims to recognize and reward the effort, dedication, and academic performance of students across the province during the 2025-2026 school year.
The awards are for students in secondary education, bachillerato, and vocational training (FP) who have achieved the best academic records in their respective stages. The goal is to highlight both the perseverance and talent of Málaga's youth.
A significant new feature this year is the focus on students residing in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. According to statements by councilor Santaolalla, the initiative seeks to support these young people, regardless of where they study, acknowledging their effort and dedication.
Educational centers will receive the application forms on May 28th, with the deadline for submission to the Delegation of Education and Youth set for June 30th. Key requirements include being registered in a municipality with under 20,000 inhabitants, having completed ESO, Bachillerato, or an FP cycle this academic year, and possessing an outstanding academic record or honors.
The awards are organized into three categories: Sobresaliente (average of 9 to 10), which includes a diploma and tickets for leisure and cultural activities; Categoría de Honor (average of 10 or honors), which adds a free official language exam accreditation course; and Categoría Excelencia Académica (average of 10 and honors), which includes a language immersion course abroad.
As a new addition, recognition will be given to teachers who have shown significant involvement and contribution to their students' performance. The awards ceremony will take place in the first half of July at the Provincial Council of Málaga.
