The Málaga Fair will enhance its safety this year with a total of 51 semi-automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) strategically distributed across various tents in the fairgrounds. This figure more than doubles the 23 devices installed in 2025.
The Málaga City Council, through its Social Rights and Festivals departments, has provided these devices to the Malagueña Federation of Peñas, Cultural Centers, and Regional Houses ‘La Alcazaba’. The units will be located behind the bar areas of the tents and available to the public in case of cardiac arrest.
To ensure their proper use in emergencies, members of Expaumi conducted a basic life support and defibrillator management workshop for the staff of the various participating groups. These devices will complement those carried by Civil Protection, Local Police, and health services personnel.
The city of Málaga, under the ‘Málaga Cardioprotegida’ initiative, now boasts a network of 742 defibrillators located in public facilities and on the streets. The exact locations, including those for the Fair, can be found on the map available at desfibriladores.malaga.eu.
This project, launched by the City Council in conjunction with the Association of Ex-patients of the Intensive Care Unit (Expaumi) in 2016, includes ongoing basic life support training across the city's 11 districts. Upcoming courses are scheduled for September, with registration available via the Expaumi website.
