Application window opens for 175 affordable rental VPO in Malaga: requirements and prices

The Municipal Housing Institute opens the application period for the last 175 rental affordable VPO in Málaga's University District, with prices ranging from 496 to 625 euros.

The application process for the last 175 official protection homes (VPO) for affordable rent in Málaga's University District opens on July 13. This development, a public-private initiative with real estate investor Lagoom Living, completes a total of 377 homes.
Rental prices for these homes range from 496 to 625 euros per month and include a garage space and storage room. The offer includes two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, as well as several adapted units for people with reduced mobility.
Applications can be submitted from 00:00 on Monday, July 13, until 23:59 on Friday, July 31. Requests must be made through the website of the Municipal Housing Institute.
To be eligible for one of these VPO, applicants must meet several requirements. These include not owning another protected or free-market home, and the assigned home must be their primary and permanent residence. Additionally, a minimum of one year of uninterrupted residency registration in the municipality of Málaga and registration in the Municipal Registry of Protected Housing Demanders are required.
Economically, the family or household unit must meet the minimum income requirements and not exceed the maximum income limits set for the promotion. Housing groups have been established based on these limits: 54 VPO for units with incomes up to 2.5 times the IPREM (including seven adapted units), and 121 homes for incomes up to four times the IPREM (82 two-bedroom and 39 three-bedroom units).
As a solvency requirement, the annual rent amount must not exceed 30% of the household's annual net income. The 175 VPO are distributed across three residential blocks with a ground floor plus four upper floors, and a fourth block with a ground floor plus five upper floors on plot R11.
Two-bedroom apartments (136, seven adapted) will rent for between 496 and 512 euros, while three-bedroom apartments (39) will cost between 587 and 625 euros. Community fees are additional to these rents. Common areas include a swimming pool, children's play areas, an outdoor gym, and coworking spaces.
