“"Why would I write, what would I say, how would I do it. And why poetry, and why not poetry, and what would poetry be during the time this workshop lasts where we meet not to resolve but to ask ourselves these questions, and even more that arise. Listen, read, write. Write, listen, read. Activate the language we already have in our bodies and in the world and memory where we utter, speak, love, and live. Simple, difficult, difficult, simple."

Poet and performer María Salgado arrives at the Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada on June 18 and 19 with the scenic reading 'Baldío dorado' and a free writing workshop for young people.
The Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada will host the artistic activities of María Salgado, recognized for her innovative approach to contemporary poetry and performance. On June 18 and 19, the Madrid-based artist will present her scenic reading Baldío dorado, a fusion of word, sound, and physical action inspired by her poetry collections Salitre and REKORD. This proposal aims to activate language through body and memory, integrating into the exhibition Ríos (Cruzar el archivo Lorca).
In addition to the performance, Salgado will lead a disruptive writing workshop for young people aged 18 to 24. The workshop, titled Flauta de un agujero, will explore the motivations and methods of poetic writing. "Why would I write, what would I say, how would I do it. And why poetry, and why not poetry," stated the author, inviting participants to "activate the language we already have in our bodies and in the world and memory where we utter, speak, love, and live." The activity is free with prior registration.
María Salgado (Madrid, 1984) holds a PhD in Literary Theory from the UAM and was part of the thought collective Seminario Euraca. She has published books such as Ferias (2007), Ready (2012), and Salitre (2019). Her performances include De lengua trois (three) Pieces (2019) and the scenic trilogy Jinete Último Reino.
The exhibition Ríos (Cruzar el Archivo Lorca), open until October 18 at the Centro Federico García Lorca, explores Lorca's relationship with water through over 200 documents. The exhibition, curated by Francisco Ramallo, features the participation of contemporary artists such as Lucía Bayón, Javi Cruz-Andrés Izquierdo, Carlos Irijalba, Alex Reynolds, and María Salgado herself, who engage with Lorca's legacy.
