The performance, scheduled for Monday at 7:00 PM, is part of a campaign to raise awareness and consciousness against gender violence. Flamenco serves as a vehicle for social transformation, in an initiative funded by the State Pact against Gender Violence.
Paola Laynez, Councilor for Family, Inclusion, and Equality, emphasized that flamenco, as an expression of human emotions, becomes a voice for women who have suffered violence. The show aims not only to entertain but also to evoke emotion, encourage reflection, and foster social awareness through culture.
‘Flamenca y Libre’, created and performed by Almería-born artist María Canet, uses flamenco art as a tool for social and emotional awareness regarding gender violence and mistreatment of women. The performance journeys from pain and silence towards dignity, freedom, and hope, highlighting Andalusian culture and flamenco as emotional and social heritage.
The event will take place at the Teatro Apolo. Tickets, free until full capacity, were previously available at the theatre's box office and Women's Centers and are now sold out. Online invitations can still be acquired through the Culture website, with a 0.50 euro management fee.
