The Montilla City Council has inaugurated the 6th 'Montilla – Handmade' Craft Fair and the 19th Wine and Tapas Festival, events running this weekend at Envidarte, aiming to boost the town's candidacy for Spanish Wine City 2027.

The VI 'Montilla – Handmade' Craft Fair and the XIX Wine and Tapas Festival were jointly inaugurated at the municipal space Envidarte, in Montilla. Both events, running throughout the weekend, transform the facilities into a meeting point for crafts, wine culture, gastronomy, and leisure. This celebration is particularly significant just days before the announcement of the Spanish Wine City 2027, for which Montilla is a candidate, reaffirming its strong connection to its wine identity and traditional trades.
During the opening, the mayor of Montilla, Rafael Llamas, highlighted the opportunity presented by combining these two events. "We have a weekend to enjoy Montilla, not only for the residents of Montilla but also for those who will visit from different parts of our province," he stated, emphasizing how the fusion of the Craft Fair and the Wine Festival adds attractions and showcases various facets of the city's identity. Llamas thanked the participating artisans, wineries, oil mills, restaurants, and gastronomic establishments, stressing that "talking about craftsmanship in a specific municipality is talking about history, heritage, and, above all, our identity."
The Craft Fair, in its sixth edition, features 18 exhibitors showcasing disciplines such as ceramics, wood, glass, leather, sculpture, natural cosmetics, and textile printing, among others. The inaugural event was attended by the territorial delegate for Employment, Enterprise, and Autonomous Work, Marina Montes, and a broad representation from the municipal corporation. The Solano Salido Artisans Association of Montilla named Manuel Garrido Jiménez and Julio Portero Jurado as honorary members for their trajectory and dedication.
Meanwhile, the XIX Wine and Tapas Festival, held outdoors at Envidarte, brings together wineries, oil mills, and hospitality establishments. The offerings include wines from Montilla paired with culinary creations, guided tastings, children's workshops such as ‘Magical Grapes’ and ‘Paint Your Wine Bottle’, and play areas. Saturday's musical program features a performance by El Combo and a DJ set by Alex Sánchez. Sunday will host the Venencia Competition. The guest city for this edition is Almendralejo.
The Craft Fair is open on Saturday from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to midnight, and on Sunday from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The Wine and Tapas Festival is open on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM, and on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Both events aim to consolidate Montilla's identity by combining artisanal work, wine culture, and gastronomy.
