Two prominent figures within the Andalusian PSOE, Javier Fernández, the socialist leader of Seville and president of the Provincial Council, and Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, general secretary of the PSOE in Cadiz, have united behind the regional general secretary, María Jesús Montero. They support her directive to vote against the investiture of Juanma Moreno as president of the Junta de Andalucía, countering the stance of Chiclana de la Frontera's mayor, José María Román, who had proposed a conditional abstention.
Fernández, speaking at an informational event attended by Montero, stated that the regional leader "is on the right track" and urged to "close the debate." He characterized any alternative proposal as an "intentional confusion" within the party. He emphasized that the PSOE "must vote against because our project is different," arguing that the PP is "dismantling, destroying public services" and that Moreno must explain his agreement with Vox and the "national priority."

Meanwhile, Ruiz Boix, the mayor of San Roque, expressed a "resounding no" to abstention. He argued that Moreno's seven-year tenure has led to an "intentional deterioration of public services," including healthcare, education, and the dependency law. He concluded that the PSOE "cannot be complicit in the continuation of Moreno Bonilla as president" and reaffirmed Montero's policy of voting 'no' to the investiture.
The position of Ruiz Boix and the leadership of the PSOE in Cadiz contrasts with that of Román, who had suggested abstention in exchange for negotiating the financing model proposed by Montero from the Ministry of Finance.
