The Pozoblanco City Council has re-tendered the second phase of the 2026 Paving Plan, an initiative that will improve the municipality's road network with a total investment of 615,042.09 euros. This project, supported by the Provincial Plan “Diputación Invierte 2025” and an increased municipal contribution, will focus on over 55,000 square meters of streets, the ring road, and the Dehesa Boyal I Industrial Estate.
The previous tender was unsuccessful due to the rise in prices of bituminous mixtures and the general increase in associated costs. In response, the City Council has updated the project's valuation report, maintaining the subsidy from the Provincial Council of Córdoba and increasing the municipal financial commitment by 110,000 euros.
The mayor of Pozoblanco and councilor for Urban Planning and Works, Santiago Cabello, highlighted that the new tender demonstrates the City Council's commitment to executing this important project with full guarantees, despite difficulties and rising costs.
Cabello emphasized that the intervention will improve streets, the ring road, neighborhoods, and industrial areas, directly impacting road safety, accessibility, daily mobility, and the image of Pozoblanco, addressing the needs of residents and the business sector.
The updated report includes Ernesto García Rodríguez street and a new section of Santa Rita street, expanding the project's scope across three major intervention areas.
This phase complements the actions already completed in the first phase of the 2026 Paving Plan, which covered over 13,000 square meters, including streets such as Santa Bárbara and San Gregorio.
The objective is to build a more modern and safer Pozoblanco, with infrastructure aligned with the city's growth and residents' demands, improving travel and urban functionality.
The intervention areas are divided into three zones: the El Silo neighborhood (17,838.70 m²), including various streets; several strategic points like the Ring Road and the Ronda de los Llanos (17,479 m²); and the Dehesa Boyal I Industrial Estate (19,850 m²), enhancing a key economic hub.
