The non-payments affect a total of 57 localities in the province, including Ochavillo del Río and Algallarín, in addition to the 55 municipalities where Emproacsa manages water supply. Customers with outstanding debts will receive a communication inviting them to pay the owed installments.
This initiative arises after an official review by the ICHL to identify defaulters. The Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) has published the announcement, granting a one-month period to regularize the situation. The outstanding invoices correspond to quarters from the fiscal years 2023 and 2024, and the first quarter of 2025.
The situation was due to an issue with the billing system that occurred when the Council outsourced the management of the bills. As the cause is external to the customers, no surcharge will be applied if payment is made before August 11. Local Finance resumed the management of collections in May 2025.
The letter sent to homes explains that invoices for the water supply service, issued since the first quarter of 2023, will be collected. It is indicated that, despite their age of up to three years, they will be collected as current debt without surcharges during the voluntary period. Affected individuals have 30 days from receiving the communication to pay or request a payment plan.
Those who have already paid or detect any issues can contact an office of the Institute of Cooperation with Local Finance or call 957 498 283 to review their situation.
