The rehabilitation works for the airfield in Hinojosa del Duque, Córdoba province, began this Thursday. The town's mayor, Matías González, accompanied by council members María Antonia Ramírez and Dolores Aranda, inspected the start of the project that will turn this space into the future Los Pedroches Aerodrome. This infrastructure is considered strategic, utilizing municipal land acquired in 2008.
In this initial phase, the company Air Attack On Fire is undertaking land clearing and preparation tasks. Subsequently, a runway measuring 1,040 meters in length will be constructed. Daniel Medrán, representing the awarded company, highlighted in December the project's swift execution, facilitated by the City Council's collaboration.
The execution of these works has been made possible through a collaboration agreement between the Hinojosa del Duque City Council and the Provincial Council of Córdoba, which is contributing an investment of 125,000 euros.
The rehabilitation plan extends beyond the runway, encompassing the renovation of the old control tower building and the complete perimeter fencing of the plot to ensure the complex's security. Future phases of the project include preparing a taxiway and establishing a dedicated apron for aircraft parking.
Promoters emphasize the expected business impact, with multiple companies awaiting the facilities' operational status to launch their activities in Los Pedroches. The goal is for the aerodrome to serve as an attraction hub, stimulating the local economy and creating new future opportunities for the province's inhabitants.
The next technical steps will focus on installing electricity and water supply connections, essential infrastructure to guarantee the operability of current works and future services.
