Efforts to resolve the issue with the main water supply infrastructure in Sorbas are progressing. On Tuesday morning, a new pump was installed at the Larache well, after the previous unit was removed to assess the damage that caused its malfunction.
The installation company is carrying out the tasks, with the expectation that the assembly will conclude throughout Wednesday. Once the pump and the lifting column are in place, the well will be activated to resume water flow to the Larache reservoir.
Restoring pumping is crucial for replenishing reservoir levels and normalizing the service. However, the complete return to normal will depend on the progress of the work and the system's performance once it is operational.
In the meantime, the council is maintaining a provisional supply using water trucks to ensure water availability for residents as much as possible.
The breakdown occurred on Saturday, rendering the infrastructure inoperable. Initial checks indicated a problem with the pump's motor, necessitating the extraction of the lifting column to access the system.
This situation has required the City Council to implement extraordinary measures, such as cutting off the supply nightly between 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM from Saturday to Sunday, to preserve reservoir levels.
Furthermore, residents are again urged to use water responsibly and conserve it during this period of disruption, avoiding unnecessary consumption that could deplete reserves.
