Firefighters from the Provincial Council of Córdoba are responding to a fire that broke out in an isolated industrial warehouse in the municipality of Palma del Río. The facility, approximately 100 meters long by 50 meters wide, housed textile materials inside. The fire is currently under control, although it is producing a considerable amount of smoke, prompting requests for the public to remain in their homes.
To combat the emergency, the Provincial Council has deployed 14 firefighters from various stations across the province. The technical equipment on site includes five water tender trucks, an aerial ladder vehicle, and a light fire engine (BUL). Aerial resources from Infoca have also been mobilized for direct water drops to reduce the intensity of the flames. The Palma del Río City Council has provided a water tanker to assist in the extinguishing efforts.
The warehouse is situated in an area isolated from the population, thus ruling out the risk of propagation to other infrastructures. However, the combustion of the abundant textile material is generating significant smoke density.
As a preventive measure, in collaboration with the Palma del Río City Council, the Local Police, and Civil Protection, residents are being advised to stay indoors, keep windows closed, and avoid going outside while the smoke persists.
Current efforts by the firefighters are focused on containing the fire's perimeter and suppressing the flames to reduce smoke emissions. Subsequently, the operational strategy includes the deployment of two backhoe loaders to extract and remove the accumulated material from the rear and sides of the warehouse, proceeding with its gradual extinguishment.
