Residents and tourists in the municipality of Carboneras, in the Levante almeriense region, were surprised this Monday by the presence of a narco-boat right on the shore of Las Marinicas beach. The black vessel was found beached on the sand early in the morning.
While narco-boats are frequently sighted along the Almería coast, their abandonment on busy summer beaches is unusual. The Civil Guard of Almería has confirmed the discovery of the boat and has launched an investigation to determine how it arrived on the shore.
According to consulted sources, the vessel is damaged, which is believed to be the reason its occupants abandoned it. A subcontracted company will be responsible for its removal.
“"Drug trafficking cannot run rampant in Andalusia. It is evident that crime is gaining ground and that resources are lacking."
The appearance of the narco-boat comes just one day after a violent incident involving firearms in Huelva resulted in three fatalities, including a minor. In response to this situation, the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, has denounced the "unbearable" situation caused by drug traffickers in the region.
