On the evening of last Saturday, a public order disturbance occurred in Vera, specifically in the Las Buganvillas area, located between Vera Playa and Garrucha. Around 9:00 PM, an individual exhibiting violent behavior began throwing objects at vehicles circulating a roundabout.
After receiving the alert, a patrol, supported by the Vera Intervention Group (G.I.V.) and the Civil Guard, initiated a pursuit. The alleged perpetrator was heading towards Garrucha and, before being neutralized, caused damage to three vehicles, destruction to a home, and injuries to one person, according to police sources.
“"Given his attitude, in addition to the acts committed, his subduing and arrest were necessary."
The individual was intercepted by officers heading towards Garrucha and was finally neutralized and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
This incident was not the only one requiring the G.I.V.'s intervention on Saturday. In the afternoon, the group addressed a potential case of gender violence that was dismissed after verification, and later intervened in the eviction of squatters from a municipal dwelling. The day concluded with an increased police presence in the streets, with foot patrols and preventive vehicle and personal checks at various points in the town of Vera.
