The Town Hall of Cuevas del Almanzora has improved the material resources of its Local Police with the acquisition of tactical and transport equipment. The presentation of these new resources was carried out by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Isa Haro, and agent Jaime Castro.
Among the main novelties is the incorporation of a BYRNA Mission 4, a non-lethal deterrent weapon designed for perimeter control and tactical operations. According to agent Jaime Castro, this device resembles an M4 submachine gun but features orange elements that clearly distinguish it from a lethal firearm.
The weapon is equipped with tandem magazines, each holding 19 projectiles, and has an effective range of up to 30 meters. Castro pointed out that it allows officers to intervene while maintaining a safe distance, offering an alternative aimed at reducing the risk of lethal consequences and minimizing collateral damage during operations.
This new equipment complements the renewal of the police transport fleet. This year, a new Pick-Up type vehicle was acquired, and the arrival of two new police motorcycles and an additional vehicle is planned soon, expanding the force's surveillance capacity.
Councilor Isa Haro stated that the municipality is committed to providing the Local Police with the necessary means to ensure greater security and offer the best care to its citizens. With these additions, the aim is to reinforce the operational capacity and ensure officers have adequate tools for their prevention, surveillance, and response functions.
