The decision, unanimously approved at a recent meeting in the Palacio Anguís de Medinilla, highlights the city's commitment to its citizens and local talent. The Councillor for Festivities, Jerónimo García, was present at the commission that made these important resolutions for the upcoming festivities.
The Úbeda Volunteer Civil Protection Group has been chosen to deliver the opening speech, coinciding with their 40th anniversary celebration. This proposal, initially from the Socialist Party, received unanimous support from all political groups, recognizing the altruistic work and uninterrupted service of its members for four decades. Their dedication has been fundamental to the safety and well-being of Úbeda's citizens in cultural, sporting events, and emergency situations, including participation in operations outside the city and in international settings.
“"The appointment is a well-deserved tribute to the dedication and altruistic service of men and women who have spent four decades ensuring the safety and well-being of Úbeda's citizens."
Councillor García anticipated that the speech will offer a unique and close perspective of the fair, sharing experiences and anecdotes from behind the scenes of the major events in which the group participates annually. This intervention is expected to provide an intimate insight into their work and its impact on the community.
Furthermore, the commission for the announcement poster has been given to Moisés Nieto, a renowned Úbeda-born designer and couturier with a distinguished career in Spanish and international fashion. His strong connection to his hometown makes him the ideal choice to create an image that merges tradition, creativity, and a contemporary vision. The poster will be unveiled, as is customary, in early September.
