The Barbate almadraba, managed in collaboration with the company Petaca Chico, has commenced its annual bluefin tuna fishing campaign. This event marks the beginning of one of the most deeply rooted fishing traditions on the Cadiz coast.
During this initial day, fishermen successfully extracted a total of 50 tuna from the sea. Among the catches, a particularly large specimen stood out, weighing 350 kilograms, highlighting the richness of the local waters.
The 'levantá' is a traditional and sustainable fishing method practiced in the region, where tuna are guided into a complex labyrinth of nets before being hoisted to the surface. This system allows for careful selection of the specimens.
