“"The aim is to achieve this with a railing of vertical steel bars, with a certain glossy finish that reflects the sea and sky, while blending with the sand and the horizon, so that it is integrated into the environment, its view does not detract from the landscape by being very permeable, and at the same time ensures pedestrian safety against falls."

The Rincón de la Victoria City Council has awarded the restoration of the bridge over the Totalán stream, a crucial intervention for the continuity of the accessible pedestrian path connecting Málaga and Rincón de la Victoria via the Senda Litoral (Coastal Path).
The company Proyectos Técnicos y Obras Civiles, S.A. will be responsible for carrying out the works, with a cost amounting to 325,795.57 euros plus VAT. This action not only seeks to adapt the infrastructure, which dates back to 1908, but also to significantly reinforce its safety measures.
The project includes a comprehensive structural repair of the bridge, which has a length of 67.43 meters. It will involve chipping and replacing the slab eaves, as well as repairing existing cracks in the slab and beams. Additionally, the current mortar coating of the bridge piers will be replaced with materials that respect the original characteristics of the construction.
To ensure pedestrian safety, fall protection will be installed on both sides of the bridge, and a deactivated or washed concrete pavement, suitable for its use, will be laid. The choice of protections has been made with the aim of maintaining a permeable view of the landscape, both the riverbed and the sea, integrating into the coastal environment.
The railing on the south side will extend to a section of the Rincón de la Victoria promenade to ensure the homogeneity of the intervention. Furthermore, the project includes the illumination of the bridge, both the piers and the deck, using LED strips embedded in the edges.
