The Culture councilor of the Vélez-Málaga City Council has presented the event, highlighting the arrival of these traditional musical groups. The contest, which dates back to 1985, returns this year to the capital of the Axarquía, promising to delight residents and visitors with its characteristic compositions and melodies.

The organizers of the contest valued the choice of Vélez-Málaga for being the birthplace of the international thinker María Zambrano. The organizing tuna, from Philosophy and Letters of Málaga, considered that there was no better place to host the event than the cradle of one of the country's most illustrious philosophers.

The contest will feature the participation of the tunas from Magisterio, the female tunas from Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Peritos de Málaga. As a guest, the tuna from Económicas will perform, alongside the organizing tuna from Filosofía y Letras. The event will begin on May 1st at 7:30 PM with a parade from Canajelas street to Las Carmelitas square, followed by traditional serenades in the inner courtyard of the City Hall around 8:00 PM.
Afterwards, the musicians will spread out through the streets of Vélez-Málaga, entertaining with their original lyrics. On May 2nd, the performances of the different groups will move to the Teatro del Carmen starting at 5:00 PM, bringing this edition of the contest to a close.
