The Montilla City Council is hosting the second edition of the Wine Tunnel on September 4th, 5th, and 6th at the Paseo de las Mercedes, an initiative to showcase the richness of the local wine heritage.

The event will feature 180 references of wines from Montilla and the Sierra de Montilla, including finos, olorosos, reds, young whites, and sparkling wines. As a novelty, an olive oil tasting table produced in the area will be added, highlighting the region's connection to both wine and olive cultivation.
Tourism Councilor Adrian Lapsley stated that the Wine Tunnel serves to promote Montilla's wealth to visitors, aligning with the municipal tourism promotion strategy. This year is particularly significant due to Montilla's candidacy for Spanish Wine City 2027.
Organizer Mara de Miguel emphasized the educational and recreational nature of the event, aiming for citizens to better understand Montilla's liquid heritage and deepen their knowledge of local wines.
Among the new features this year is the presence of a selection of wines from Almendralejo, continuing the collaboration between the two municipalities. Attendees will be able to taste elaborations from this Extremaduran town.
Another addition is the Producer's Table, where various producers will present their wines directly to the public on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, fostering closer interaction and understanding of the featured wines.
Access will be managed through passes to control attendance and enhance the visitor experience, with early hours recommended for a more relaxed exploration. It is described as a liquid gastronomic education process, not a free-for-all.
The Wine Tunnel will be open on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and on Sunday 6th September from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM. The entrance fee, including a glass, is 2 euros.
This edition is part of the Montilla en Vendimia program and the tourism promotion strategy of the Montilla City Council, aiming to enhance the understanding of wine culture among citizens and boost Montilla's profile as a wine destination. The event coincides with Montilla's bid for Spanish Wine City 2027.
