The downward trend in unemployment in Nerja remains strong, with the number of jobless individuals below the one-thousand mark. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, corresponding to the month of July, the municipality currently registers 912 unemployed people.
Compared to the same month last year, unemployment has decreased by 11.63%, which translates to 120 fewer people unemployed compared to July 2025.

Mayor José Alberto Armijo highly praised these figures, emphasizing that «the reduction in unemployment is always a good indicator for our municipality”.
For her part, the Councilor for Employment, Ángela Díaz, highlighted the economic dynamism that Nerja is experiencing, particularly in sectors such as tourism, commerce, and services. She reiterated the City Council's commitment to continue promoting initiatives that foster job creation, support the business community, and encourage training, acknowledging the efforts of entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals, and workers.
