The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias in Nerja was the venue for the presentation of the poster that will announce the processional parades in honor of the Patron Saints, Saint Michael the Archangel and the Virgin of Anguish. This year's artwork, featuring an image of Saint Michael, is the creation of Nerja-based painter Juan Antonio Ortega Montesinos, known artistically as “Juani”, a self-taught artist with a significant career linked to painting and local traditions.
The event was attended by various personalities, including the mayor, José Alberto Armijo; the spiritual director and parish priest of El Salvador, Juan Manuel Ortiz; the conciliator commissioner of the Brotherhood, Felipe Álvarez de Rivera; the councilwoman for Fiesta Mayor, Elena Gálvez; members of the Municipal Corporation, representatives of associative groups, and numerous residents.
“"The presentation of the poster announces the proximity of the patron saint festivities and congratulated the Brotherhood and its collaborators for the work they do, reiterating the City Council's support. He also congratulated the author for a magnificent work that once again places his artistic talent at the service of Nerja's traditions and devotions."
During the event, the upcoming religious services and celebrations were also detailed: the mass and procession of transfer on September 26th; the Triduum at the Church of El Salvador, on October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th; and the procession of the Patron Saints on October 10th. The mayor encouraged residents and visitors to participate in the events and enjoy the Nerja Fair 2026.
