The ceremony, held on Monday, April 13, had been postponed from January due to national mourning following the tragic train accident in Adamuz (Córdoba). The event brought together prominent figures from the sports and gastronomic sectors of the capital, as well as specialized media.
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, and the Tourism councilor, Antonio José Martín, presented the award to the Reyes brothers. Felipe Reyes, a legend of Real Madrid Basketball and a world champion with the Spanish National Team in 2006, along with his brother Alfonso Reyes, who had a solid career in elite Spanish basketball, have maintained a strong bond with the Malaga town.
Felipe and Alfonso have become recognized faces in the daily summer life of Rincón, naturally integrating into the municipality's routine.
Both former players are considered natural ambassadors for the tourist brand “Rincón de la Victoria, Full of Life,” thanks to their regular presence in local restaurants, beach bars, and establishments. Their choice of the municipality as a habitual summer residence highlights the area's attractions, such as its climate, gastronomy, and proximity to Málaga city.
During the gala, held at the Hyatt Regency Hesperia Hotel in Madrid, the 8th edition of the Victorian Anchovy recipe book was also presented. This publication, which compiles traditional and innovative recipes featuring anchovies, has become a key tool for promoting the municipality's gastronomy.
