The intervention focuses on a three-kilometer stretch, encompassing improvements to the road surface and drainage system. The Deputy of Public Works and Infrastructure, Nieves Atencia, visited the works, which will extend beyond the summer, and highlighted that they are part of the provincial institution's plan for structural improvements on its road network.
The work is being carried out within the municipal areas of Comares and Riogordo, with the progress being monitored by their respective mayors, José Miguel Ruiz and Antonio Alés. New longitudinal and transversal drainage systems are being installed, road surface deformations are being repaired, and the sub-base is being reinforced.
Nieves Atencia emphasized that this project, drafted by the Provincial Council's Roads and Works department, will complete the rehabilitation of the entire route, which has already undergone two previous phases. In total, the investment in this road's rehabilitation reaches two million euros, combining the current 1.2 million with the 500,000 euros from the first phase and nearly 340,000 euros from the second.
This third phase addresses the most deteriorated section of the road, which lacks gutters in some areas and suffers from infiltrations that have affected the platform. Paved gutters and various drainage systems are being constructed to mitigate infiltrations into the platform. Drainage pipes showing deformation or displacement are also being replaced, and protective rock barriers are being built.
Concurrently, areas of the road surface exhibiting deformations and settlements are being repaired. This involves demolishing the existing pavement and excavating up to a meter and a half deep. Finally, the pavement structure will be restored with a layer of gravel and two layers of asphalt, concluding with the replacement of signage.
