Nerja has welcomed its new Substitute Justice of the Peace, José Luis Fernández Salazar. Mayor José Alberto Armijo personally congratulated him after his appointment was approved by the Corporation's Plenary session on July 31. The proposal received the support of the PP and PSOE, while Podemos Izquierda Unida abstained.
During the meeting, also attended by Justice of the Peace Antonio Jaime, the mayor conveyed his best wishes to Fernández Salazar for this new phase of public service. The mayor highlighted that he is "a much-loved and respected person in our town, with a long history of commitment to Nerja, its traditions, and its associative fabric," expressing his confidence that he will carry out the responsibility "with the closeness, sensitivity, and vocation he has always shown."
José Luis Fernández, widely known in Nerja, has dedicated a significant part of his life to promoting and preserving popular traditions. He is also a recognized businessman in the town and deeply involved in its cultural and social life.
The mayor thanked José Luis for his willingness to assume this responsibility, stating that he will form a "tandem" with Antonio Jaime that will ensure the proper provision of local justice public services.
Following the plenary approval, the agreement will be sent to the Governing Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia for his official appointment. Once this procedure is completed, José Luis Fernández will be sworn in and take office.
