Axarquía Boosts Tourism Quality at the XVII SICTED Forum in Madrid
The Commonwealth of Municipalities Costa del Sol Axarquía will participate in a key meeting for the future of Spanish tourism, presenting a renewed quality model.

The Commonwealth of Municipalities Costa del Sol Axarquía will be present on Tuesday, April 14, at the XVII SICTED Forum in Madrid, a crucial event for the Spanish tourism sector aiming to promote a renewed quality model adapted to current challenges.
The NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding Hotel will host the XVII SICTED Forum, a pivotal gathering for the future of tourism in Spain, under the theme “Sustainability, intelligence, and tourist quality in the destination ecosystem”. This event is scheduled for April 14.
SICTED, a program for improving quality in tourist destinations, is a joint initiative by the Secretary of State for Tourism and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). Its objective is to ensure a satisfactory and consistent tourist experience across the national territory.
In the Axarquía region, this program is managed and coordinated by the Commonwealth of Municipalities Costa del Sol Axarquía, in collaboration with local councils and the business sector. This regional institution serves as the managing entity for the Axarquía Costa del Sol destination.

The forum will mark the beginning of a new phase for the Comprehensive System for Tourist Quality in Destinations (SICTED), with the presentation of a strengthened model adapted to contemporary sector challenges, such as digitalization and sustainability. During the event, key methodological changes and the next steps for its implementation throughout 2026 will be unveiled.
Notable participants include Enrique Martínez, president of SEGITTUR; María Velasco, director of research, development, and tourism innovation; and Ana Muñoz, general director of Tourism Policies at the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
