The decision came after a participatory process in which over 540 residents and merchants of Jaén cast their votes. This initiative arose from statements made by the actor, who, upon obtaining Spanish nationality, humorously chose Jaén as his birthplace.
The public company Turismo de Andalucía posed the question to the public about where the plaque should be located. Among the 18 proposed sites, several local establishments with anecdotal connections to the actor, such as candy stores or barber shops, were highlighted by residents.
“"The action, born in reaction to the actor's statements and built on humor and complicity, has transformed a spontaneous conversation into a real tribute in the city of Jaén."
The voting period, which began on March 20 and concluded on April 15, exceeded all participation expectations. The choice of the Alkázar Cinema, located in the city center, links this tribute to a place that is part of Jaén's collective memory and is currently undergoing restoration to become a future cultural hub.
