The Royal Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of Expiration and Our Lady of Hope from Linares carried out its penance station this Holy Friday, gathering a multitude of faithful in an act of deep devotion and tradition.

From half past five in the afternoon, the Parish of San Francisco was the starting point for one of the most emblematic processions of Linares' Holy Week. The brotherhood, with a history dating back to 1894, displayed a retinue of 1,105 brothers, who are considered a fundamental pillar of local faith. The air was filled with the scent of incense, while the square filled with anticipation for the start of the ceremony.
Under the direction of the Elder Brother, D. Manuel Amat Cerón, the Most Holy Christ of Expiration, an imposing sculpture by Gabino Amaya from 1942, restored by Luis Álvarez Duarte in 2012, was carried by 105 bearers. The image, with its feet together and a nail in each, evoked the most authentic Christian symbolism, recalling the “rose of life” that in 2017 symbolized the blood shed on Golgotha.
The musical accompaniment was provided by the Head Band of the Most Holy Christ of Expiration, which debuted a new banner, and the Band of CC. and TT. «Nuestra Señora del Rosario» of Linares, which added an epic counterpoint to the procession, especially at each turn towards the Official Route.
Subsequently, Our Lady of Hope, a nineteenth-century jewel from the Levantine School also restored by Duarte, processed with an elegance that captivated the faithful. Her canopy float, with its completely restored candelabra, reflected the light of the candles on the Virgin's face. The Lady wore her restored processional crown, while 65 bearers swayed her gently. The Philharmonic Society «María Inmaculada» of Linares accompanied Hope with a repertoire of classical marches, creating an atmosphere of unfading glory.
Holy Friday in Linares has been experienced with memorable intensity, where devotion to the Expiration and Hope reaffirms the faith of a people rooted in their traditions, especially in the neighborhood of San Francisco.
