A tragic accident struck the province of Jaén this Tuesday. A man lost his life and a woman was injured following the overturning of a truck on the A-4 highway, near Villanueva de la Reina. The incident occurred around 7:20 AM.

The vehicle veered off the road and overturned in the median, at kilometer 305 of the highway heading towards Bailén. After receiving the alert, the 112 emergency service dispatched the Guardia Civil de Tráfico (Traffic Civil Guard), the 061 Health Emergency Center, the Andújar Firefighters, and Road Maintenance crews.

Emergency teams recovered the lifeless body of a man who was trapped beneath the truck. Sources from the Andújar Firefighters described the extrication operation as "complex".

The injured woman received medical attention and was subsequently transported to the Alto Guadalquivir Hospital in Andújar.

The accident necessitated the closure of one highway lane while emergency crews attended to the scene and removed the vehicle.
