The city of Jaén was plunged into chaos after a torrential downpour that struck with great intensity on Tuesday afternoon. The rainfall, accompanied by hail, dropped over 30 liters per square meter in just 20 minutes, according to data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). The City Council of Jaén activated the pre-emergency phase due to the magnitude of the storm.
The heavy rains caused widespread flooding, with water erupting from the ground and inundating basements and garages. Emergency services, including Firefighters, Local Police, and Civil Protection, responded to a total of 110 calls. The most common incidents involved water entering establishments and building entrances, as well as power outages in various parts of the city.

The parking lot at Plaza de la Constitución was one of the most affected areas, becoming completely submerged. The managing company reported that all its levels were affected by the water, although fortunately, there were no personal injuries. The facility has been cordoned off as a preventive measure. Emergency services and utility companies worked through the night to assess the damage and restore normalcy.
In addition to the flooding, power outages were reported, causing alarm among residents. The responsible company worked to restore the supply. Firefighters also responded to a fire in a transformer on the La Guardia road, the connection of which to the storm is still unknown.

Fortunately, the storm did not cause personal injuries. The swift action of emergency services and citizen cooperation helped manage the incidents and begin the recovery of normalcy in the Andalusian city.
