According to the party, after a year and a half since the signing of the agreement between the PSOE and Jaén Merece Más, the visible results translate into «more debt and worse trains». The spokesperson for the Popular Group pointed out that, of all the agreed measures, the only one carried out has been the transfer of the collection service to the Provincial Council, an action that, in their opinion, does not benefit the capital.
“"A year and a half after that betrayal of the citizens, we have worse trains and more municipal debt."
Regarding railway connections, the spokesperson criticized that Jaén still lacks high-speed access and has not managed to reduce travel times. The agreement contemplated connecting Jaén with Madrid in less than three hours by high-speed rail and improving the conventional line for a three-and-a-half-hour journey, in addition to replacing trains with more modern models.
The party also denounced the «fiasco» in the economic sphere, highlighting that the City Council still owes more than 600 million euros. The pact included the restructuring of municipal debt and the payment in kind of municipal assets, as well as a commitment from the Ministry of Finance to apply extraordinary measures to alleviate the financial burden, aspects that, according to the PP, have not been fulfilled.
Furthermore, the lack of industrial promotion and the absence of business projects that generate employment in the capital have been criticized. The Popular Group also regretted that investments have not been released for the construction of the new National Police station, a commitment that was part of the agreement.
For all these reasons, the Popular Group will urge the government team to present a detailed report on the degree of execution of the censure motion agreement within a maximum period of one month. The party considers that the non-compliance with these commitments represents «a fraud to the citizenry».
