The show, organized by the Patronato de Cultura, Turismo, Fiestas y Patrimonio Histórico, will feature prominent poets and artists from the region. The Culture councilor, María Espejo, presented the event alongside singer Carmen Gersol and poets Martín Paredes, María Ángeles Solís, and Miguel Ángel Cañada.
“"It is a “unique” show and a recital “that proposes an emotional journey through the cultural essence of Jaén where word and song merge into one voice."
The recital 'Raíces: poetry and flamenco sing to Jaén' aims to highlight the patrimonial, scenic, and artistic richness of the province through the fusion of these two universal expressions. The different styles of flamenco will serve as a vehicle to bring to life the poetic texts by María de los Ángeles Solís, Miguel Ángel Cañada, and Martín Lorenzo Paredes Aparicio.
Singer Carmen Gersol will adapt these verses to song, accompanied on guitar by José Rojo. Gersol emphasized that the recital arose from a casual encounter between the poets and herself, with the intention of paying a joint tribute to Jaén. She thanked the support of the Patronato de Cultura, the funding from Caja Rural de Jaén, and the collaboration of the Asociación de Vecinos Torre del Concejo.
“"Flamenco is the most moving artistic expression any people could have brought forth. If we unite it with poetry, long live the culture of Jaén."
María Ángeles Solís, for her part, highlighted the significance of the City Council lending the Salón Mudéjar, recalling that it was the first headquarters of the Peña Flamenca de Jaén. The event will take place at 8:00 PM with free admission until full capacity is reached.
