The current president of the Jaén Provincial Council, Paco Reyes, has announced his resignation from the post before June 11, the anticipated date for the new Andalusian Parliament's constitution, citing role incompatibility.

Paco Reyes, who is also set to lead the PSOE candidacy for Jaén in the upcoming Andalusian Parliament elections, explained that current legislation prevents holding both the provincial council presidency and a parliamentary seat simultaneously. This announcement was made during an event honoring the Jaén Paraíso Interior FS team at the Provincial Palace.

"My resignation will occur before the Andalusian Parliament is constituted. So, we don't know the exact date, but the law states it's incompatible; I am not ineligible, the position is incompatible."

Paco Reyes · President of the Jaén Provincial Council
While the precise date of his resignation remains unconfirmed, Reyes indicated it would take place before June 11, the day of the Virgen de la Capilla, when the new Andalusian Parliament is expected to be formed. Regarding his successor, he stated he awaits his party's decision.
The provincial executive of the PSOE has confirmed that Francisco Reyes will head the list for the Andalusian Parliament in the May 17 elections. He will be joined by current parliamentarian and socialist deputy spokesperson, Ángeles Férriz, as the number two. Reyes's departure from the Provincial Council will pave the way for Juan Latorre, the current general secretary of the Jaén PSOE, to assume the presidency.

"In Jaén, we know how to do things very well, with dialogue, with agreement, always choosing the best among the 6,000 militants of this party, uniting the experience of those who have institutional responsibilities with the drive of new additions that allow us to provide the impetus any political organization needs."

Juan Latorre · General Secretary of Jaén PSOE
Latorre emphasized the importance of unity and consensus within the party to gain citizen support, speaking alongside Housing Minister, Isabel Rodríguez.
