The initiative, funded by NextGenerationEU funds, aims to provide useful digital tools for municipalities, new services for visitors, and greater coordination among administrations, companies, and tourism stakeholders. The Deputy of Electronic Government and Internal Regime, Inés Arco, highlighted that this project, now in its final phase, will establish Jaén as a smart tourist destination.
The platform will collect and analyze real-time data to better understand visitors, plan evidence-based actions, and coordinate various sector players. Arco noted that the project is conceived as a model of shared governance, emphasizing the adherence of 95% of the province's 97 town councils, demonstrating municipal commitment to more digital and sustainable tourism.
Developed tools include municipal tourism websites, promotional content generation such as videos and professional photographs, and a Virtual Tourist Office. These solutions aim to enhance the digital presence and visibility of all municipalities, regardless of their size.
Additionally, audio guides, augmented reality, and 3D content will be implemented for specific tourist products, such as the Castles and Battles route. The project also incorporates an online booking module and sensing actions, particularly in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park.
Jaén has played a leading role within the Network of Smart Destination Platforms, collaborating with Segittur in validating solutions. The ultimate success, according to Arco, will depend on the adoption of these tools by town councils, businesses, and tourism agents to drive territorial development.
