The Provincial Council of Jaén has presented two new initiatives, ‘Vive Castillos y Batallas’ and ‘Noches de Luz en los Castillos de Jaén’, designed to enhance the historical heritage and tourist appeal of the province. These programs, driven by the Promotion and Tourism department, aim to highlight Jaén's defensive architecture and its numerous fortresses.
The ‘Vive Castillos y Batallas’ program includes festivals and historical reenactments scheduled to take place until next November. These events will be held in the 26 municipalities that are part of the ‘Castillos y Batallas del Reino de Jaén’ tourist route, offering a wide range of activities for all audiences, with a particular focus on family tourism.
Meanwhile, ‘Noches de Luz en los Castillos de Jaén’ will feature approximately twenty free activities during the summer. The goal is to allow visitors to enjoy evenings at the province's main fortresses, castles, and watchtowers, helping to combat tourism seasonality and extend the average visitor stay. These activities include light, sound, and music shows, as well as circus and musical performances for all ages.
“"We are proud to have transformed this extraordinary heritage into unique tourist experiences that contribute to reinforcing the territory's identity and appeal."
These initiatives are supported by collaboration between administrations and the private sector, notably through the ‘Club de Producto ‘Ruta de los Castillos y las Batallas del Reino de Jaén’. The Provincial Council is allocating 86,000 euros in subsidies to the municipalities participating in the ‘Vive Castillos y Batallas’ program.
