The town of Almedinilla is preparing to host the 19th edition of the Iberian-Roman Festum Days, taking place from August 12 to 16. This year, the event places special emphasis on the figure of the Iberian woman, a theme gaining relevance after the discovery of two female tombs at the local archaeological site.

The Provincial Council of Córdoba has officially presented the Iberian-Roman Festum Days, an initiative reaching its nineteenth edition. The event will be held in Almedinilla from August 12 to 16, under the theme 'Mulierum Virtutes (Re)discovering Iberian Women'.
The Delegate for Culture of the Provincial Council, Gabriel Duque, along with the Councilor for Culture of Almedinilla, Fran Vicente, and the Head of Heritage and Tourism, Natalia Zardain, detailed the program. Duque described the initiative as "one of the most relevant cultural proposals in our province" and a significant development driver for the Subbética municipality, attracting thousands of visitors.
The days, integrated into the Singular Projects program, aim to highlight the rich archaeological sites of Almedinilla, particularly the Roman villa and the Iberian settlement. Duque emphasized how historical heritage becomes a key resource for local development.
For his part, Fran Vicente highlighted the "historical rigor" of the event, which combines leisure, training, and creativity, with the active participation of numerous residents. He noted that these days are crucial for the town, as local heritage resources receive over 10,000 annual visits, with 5,000 directly linked to Festum. Many activities are free and open to the public, ensuring an accessible and participatory offering.
Natalia Zardain focused on this year's main theme: the Iberian woman, often a little-known figure. The choice of this focus is due to the recent discovery of two Iberian women's tombs at the archaeological site. Activities, such as 'showcooking' and monologues, will aim to shed light on their daily lives and roles in the society of the time.
