This initiative aims to fill the streets, squares, and emblematic corners of the capital with color over the coming months. Among the plant species already being planted are celosias, marigolds, zinnias, cosmos, coleus, and mimulus.
A spokesperson for the Special Employment Center explained that this action coincides with seasonal changes, following the practice of previous years, to ensure the best adaptation and durability of the plants.
The work is initially focused on the most central areas of Jaén and will gradually extend to other neighborhoods. This strategy is part of a broader plan to improve the urban image and the quality of public spaces.
Key locations in this campaign include the Plaza de las Batallas, which will receive 656 celosias and 880 cosmos. The San Francisco Market will be adorned with 400 celosias in its planters. Additionally, Herrerías Street will feature 528 marigolds, San Ildefonso Square will have 1,920 zinnias, and Roldán y Marín Street will receive 260 coleus.
Also, 440 mimulus will be distributed in Navas de Tolosa, another 400 in Coca de la Piñera, and 300 in the Cathedral crypt. These actions are complemented by transplanting work carried out by the CEE operators with plants from the Plaza de la Constitución, which are being relocated between the Parque de la Concordia and the flowerbeds of the Paseo de la Estación.
“"This campaign will allow us to enjoy a great richness of colors in different parts of the city and is essential for maintaining a well-cared for and attractive image of Jaén."
