A total of 74 public schools and institutes in the province of Jaén will undergo improvements to their facilities this year. The Ministry of Education and Educational Development, through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE), is carrying out 84 interventions with a global budget of over 13.4 million euros, benefiting 23,754 students.
Of the 84 planned actions, 28 have already been completed, and another twelve are currently in execution. The remaining interventions are in various stages of processing, including contract tendering or project drafting, with the aim of finishing before the year concludes.
Among the completed or ongoing works are five center expansions. Particularly noteworthy are the projects underway at CEIP Antonio Machado in Peal de Becerro and IES Antonio de Mendoza in Alcalá la Real.
Furthermore, the creation of new spaces for vocational training cycles is planned at IES San Felipe Neri in Martos, an action currently in the contracting phase.
The reform, improvement, and modernization works have been significantly influenced by the need to repair damage caused by storms that affected several educational centers in the province at the beginning of 2026.
In parallel to these interventions, efforts to enhance accessibility in educational buildings have continued, focusing on the removal of architectural barriers and the adaptation of various areas. In this regard, 79 reform works are expected to be finalized throughout this year.
These initiatives are part of the educational infrastructure plans promoted by the Ministry of Education and Educational Development and are managed by the Andalusian Public Agency for Education.
