The University of Almería (UAL), along with institutions such as the Provincial Council of Almería and the Junta de Andalucía, is organizing an event to celebrate International Geodiversity Day, observed annually on October 6th. This day, proclaimed by UNESCO in 2021, aims to promote the conservation of geological heritage and underscore its social relevance.
Geodiversity encompasses the variety of geological elements and processes within a territory, including rocks, minerals, soils, fossils, landforms, and natural resources. Almería stands out for its significant geological diversity, featuring landscapes and formations that reflect millions of years of history.

The activity, recommended for all ages and particularly for families, will take place on Sunday at 11:00 AM in the Natural History Pavilion. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover Almería's geological wealth and learn about the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park through an interactive GeoQuiz.
