The pre-emergency phase 0 protocol was activated following heavy rainfall recorded on the afternoon of April 28. The operation, coordinated by the Emergency department, involved a fire brigade, several Local Police patrols, and three Civil Protection teams.
Rains in Los Villares, which quickly reach the Los Puentes area, prompted the activation of control measures in these zones, following guidelines from 112 and the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation. The Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH) detected a significant increase in river flow near Puente Jontoya, approaching an orange alert level, which justified the plan's activation.
The most affected areas were Valerín and Los Vadillos, where several fords were flooded and are being monitored by the Local Police. Special attention was also given to homes near the riverbeds, awaiting a decrease in current intensity. The road between Puente de la Sierra and Jontoya was also impacted by mud, with Diputación personnel working to clear it. Firefighters also removed mud and wall debris in various parts of the Vega.
In the capital, incidents were minor, mainly occurring in garages and drains, requiring punctual mobilization of firefighters without major complications. Although no further intense rainfall is expected, the protocol will remain active in the coming hours until river levels return to normal.
