After starting boxing in Morocco in 2016 and becoming national runner-up in 2018, Karymi decided to move to Spain in 2023 seeking greater opportunities. Shortly after, he arrived in Jaén, where the Sugar Ray Jaén club and his coach Raúl Buendía offered him the chance to develop his career.
During his amateur career in the province, Karymi achieved notable successes, including the runner-up position in the Portimão International Tournament, the championship title of Andalusia, and a distinguished participation in the Spanish club championship. His amateur record stands at 10 wins (two by KO) and two losses in 12 fights.
The fighter, who describes himself as a "calm boxer" who knows how to "listen to his corner," acknowledges that his professional debut is a "dream come true." "I have dreamed my whole life of being professional someday," he stated, expressing gratitude for the opportunity provided by Sugar Ray.
Karymi's inaugural bout in the featherweight division will be a four-round fight against Romanian pugilist Alexandru Ionita, a two-time Romanian champion. Coach Raúl Buendía predicts a bright future for Karymi, defining his style as "beautiful and spectacular" and anticipating that he "will make a lot of noise nationally."
“"I am very proud to represent this city, to be trained by Raúl Buendía, a very important champion in Spain, and to be one more in the Sugar Ray Jaén Club."
My time in amateur boxing has not been easy. You have to fight a lot, and we have to go through all that to reach professional boxing.
Hopefully, I can fight for a title in the future to go further in this world.
