The Xerez DFC season in Segunda RFEF has ended with relegation to Tercera RFEF, a result that marks the second relegation in the club's history. The team concluded its participation at the Nuevo Colombino with a defeat, capping off a year that the board, under the leadership of Sebastián Alonso de Medina, is already planning to overcome.
Throughout this campaign, the club had three coaches. Antonio Fernández Rivadulla was dismissed on the eighth matchday. Subsequently, Diego Caro had two distinct periods, an initial one that revitalized the team and a second with negative results. Finally, José Pérez Veiga 'Popi' managed the team in the last four matchdays, earning only two points and failing to secure any victories.
Regarding individual performance, goalkeeper Florentin Bloch was the player with the most minutes played, accumulating 2,700 in 30 starts. On the field, Ilias Charid led in minutes with 2,566 and was the player who started the most matches, with 31 appearances. Other players such as Iago Gandoy, Carlos Daniel, Udom, David Morante, Christian Dieste, and Rafa Parejo also surpassed two thousand minutes.
Christian Dieste emerged as the team's top scorer, although his performance was inconsistent. He scored six goals in the first eleven matchdays but only one in the subsequent twenty-three. Other contributors to the attack were Ilias Charid and Diego Iglesias, both with five goals. Central defender Ekerette Udom also stood out, contributing five goals and showing a notable offensive side.
In terms of discipline, Udom was the most cautioned player with eleven yellow cards and two red cards. The team, overall, maintained sporting conduct, recording only one other league expulsion, that of Rafa Parejo. The youth academy also had its moment, with the debuts of Dani Torres and Pirri, as well as Domi's presence in two matches, providing them with opportunities in a challenging year.
