The presentation took place this Easter Sunday at the Asunción Parish Church, marking the beginning of preparations for the Pentecost celebration in the village of El Rocío. Franca's work is distinguished by reversing the traditional viewpoint, adopting the perspective of the Virgin del Rocío as she observes her people from her processional float.
“"The work stems from a fundamental fact that establishes the relationship between the Virgin and her people: Mary's gaze."
This approach makes the Virgin's gaze the visual and conceptual core of the poster, symbolizing closeness, recognition, and the living presence of the Mother among her faithful. The composition also incorporates the gazes of the people directed towards the Virgin during the multitudinous Pentecost Monday procession, laden with prayer, hope, and supplication.
The typographic design, by Ale Rojas, complements the work with an aesthetic that evokes the eighties, a period when the Romería del Rocío was declared an International Tourist Interest Festival. This choice aims to recover graphic codes from that era, reinterpreting them with a modern composition that provides balance and dynamism.
Furthermore, Juan de los Santos Cano has been elected as the new Elder Brother for the Romería del Rocío of 2026 by the Hermandad Matriz. With 1,705 votes out of a total of 3,425 cast, De los Santos assumes this responsibility in a year preceding the anticipated Coming of the Virgin to the town of Almonte.
