The José Luis García Palacios Cultural Center is hosting “Las Caras de Huelva” (The Faces of Huelva), a photographic exhibition promoted by Diego Lopa and captured by Paco Gil. This display offers a collective portrait of Huelva's society through 51 protagonists from various fields, ranging from journalists and teachers to entrepreneurs and artists. The initiative aims to reflect the shared identity of the city, highlighting each individual's contribution to its history and evolution.
The exhibition not only presents images but also invites reflection on daily life and commitment to the land. Paco Gil's portraits go beyond aesthetics, seeking to capture the emotional essence and life trajectories of each person, building a collective narrative that transcends the individual and fosters mutual recognition in a society marked by immediacy.
In each portrait there is more than just an image frozen in time. There are gestures, glances, nuances that speak of life trajectories, efforts, vocations, and commitments to the land one treads.
Concurrently, the Huelva Provincial Public Library is hosting the photographic exhibition “La conciencia artificial: Ipseidad off útero, más allá de la carne” (Artificial Consciousness: Ipseity off Uterus, Beyond the Flesh) by Alberto Bouzón Tirado. This exhibition, available from April 13 to 30, is part of his new photoliterary project and will be complemented by the presentation of his novel on Tuesday, April 21, at 8:00 PM. Admission to this exhibition is free.
Finally, the “Literary Presences” series at the University of Huelva will welcome Blue Jeans (pseudonym of Francisco de Paula Fernández), one of the most influential young adult authors in Spanish. The event will take place on Monday, April 13, at 7:30 PM in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Law. With works such as Canciones para Paula (Songs for Paula) and El club de los incomprendidos (The Club of the Misunderstood), Blue Jeans has connected with a generation through stories about friendship, love, and personal growth.
